Can I really leave complaints to my early birth?

Yes, you can! Early births can leave both mental and physical complaints to their early birth. People born too small, too light or sick can also experience the same symptoms. We give on this website under the heading Long-term effects more information and complement it with new topics. Miss a subject, let us know.

I've never had any complaints, but now I have at a later age. How is that possible?

The reason for this varies per person. Some prematures experience complaints throughout their lives and are aware of them. While other premature babies do have complaints, but they don't know because it's normal for them. For this group the complaints they experience are as normal as for example their hair color. It's part of them. We often hear that people do have complaints, not always, but thought this was normal and thought that others felt the same way.

In addition, there is also a group that hasn't experienced any complaints in their previous life, but will suffer later on. This may be due to several causes. In many cases we see an emotive factor such as stress, disease, or a general factor such as age. Sometimes factors such as stress or disease can cause the nervous system to get upset and it gets disturbed. At the time of overload or disruption, someone can experience complaints that can be very diverse. Some complaints may also be age-related and occur only at a certain age.

Also in the case of dormant complaints such as above, this can be a trigger factor for the worsening of certain complaints.

Don't I just pretend? My surroundings say I shouldn't be fooling around and just keep going.

No, you're not. It is often difficult for the environment to understand what someone experiences. In a broken leg, it's clear what someone's going through. The moment the complaints are always there and also invisible it is harder to understand, because there is nothing to see.

Prematures have to do with another normal in terms of, for example, loadability, but also in other areas, than most people. This while it is still expected that they will be able to meet the normal of the largest group. Thus, a premature born adult may be physically or mentally less taxable, but it is expected that they can be present or perform a task just like anyone else. While they are already at their maximum detachability. We often hear that adult prematureness nevertheless continues to accomplish the task with the result in many cases overload, more complaints or longer recovery times.

The nervous system of prematures works differently and makes them react differently to situations and suffer more quickly from stress and fatigue. Many prematures feel that due to the lack of understanding of the environment they are different and cannot meet the normal and therefore work even harder and continue. This may eventually lead to symptoms such as burn-out or depression.

This group of prematures needs a different manual for their body and mind. Much can be achieved with the right handles and guidance.
